Walnut Middle School

At Walnut, character is not something we simply talk about, our character is something students and staff refine on a daily basis, as we strive to become role models for those around us. Our character education efforts have been recognized with two national awards. In 2003, Walnut was named a "National School of Character" - one of ten in the nation and the only middle school to be recognized. Again in 2005, the students and staff were recognized for their character education work when Walnut was named an "Operation Respect National Model School" - one of five in the nation and, again, the only middle school to be recognized. The students and staff are proud of these national recognitions and continue their commitment to character education.

Science Atlantic (formerly APICS, the Atlantic Provinces Council on the Sciences) is a charitable association of 18 post secondary and research institutes in Atlantic Canada with a mandate to advance science education and research at the undergraduate level.

Our activities are organized by professors and students according to their science discipline. Activities include annual conferences in nine disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields, lecture tours by notable scientists, awards recognizing research and science communication skills, travel assistance for students to attend conferences, and workshops for faculty.

Science Atlantic has built their own private branded community to service their needs. We welcomed the opportunity to expose their organization to our resources helping them in making a decision to build and brand their own private science community.
